The Muppets Are Taking Over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster — and It Sounds Absolutely Incredible
Disney's Hollywood Studios is reopening Rock 'n' Roller Coaster with a full Muppets makeover on May 26. Here's everything families need to know before planning a visit.
If you have a Disney’s Hollywood Studios trip on the calendar — or you’ve been waiting for the right reason to book one — this is your sign. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is back, and it has been completely reimagined around one of Disney’s most beloved casts of characters: The Muppets.
According to the Disney Parks Blog, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens to the general public on May 26, 2026, with Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club member previews in the days before opening.
A Whole New Story — Same Wild Ride
The ride itself — a high-speed, launch-style indoor coaster — remains, but everything around it has been transformed. Guests now step into the world of G-Force Records, the studio where The Electric Mayhem rehearses. The twist? The band is missing right before their biggest show ever, and you’re on the VIP guest list. Your mission: find them.
The vehicle that launches you through the darkness has a new name too — the L.I.M.O. (Lengthy Immediate Motion Object), powered by none other than Muppets Labs technology.
The Queue Alone Is Worth the Wait
Disney didn’t just swap some posters and call it a day. The reimagined experience starts well before you board. The iconic guitar marquee outside has been given a psychedelic makeover inspired by the classic Muppet car paint job, complete with a golden piano key tribute at the base. Inside, the queue is lined with posters celebrating The Electric Mayhem’s career — and celebrity cameos are woven throughout, featuring Awkwafina, Danny Trejo, Darren Criss, John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, Travis Barker, Yvette Nicole Brown, Wayne Brady, and “Weird Al” Yankovic. Yes, really.
And for Muppets fans who’ve always had a soft spot for Scooter — there’s a brand-new Audio-Animatronics figure of him in the queue alongside a crew of penguin audio engineers scrambling to pull the show together.
A Soundtrack Built for a Rock Concert
The music is a full concert experience across five tracks:
- Song 2
- Born To Be Wild featuring Camilla the Chicken
- Love Rollercoaster featuring Jennifer Hudson and Questlove
- Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop) featuring Def Leppard
- Walking on Sunshine featuring Kelly Clarkson
Disney has also teased that bonus tracks are still in development, so expect the experience to evolve over time.
Don’t Skip the Snack Stand
Right at the ride exit, FØØD by Swedish Chef opens alongside the attraction with a refreshed look and an all-new menu of snacks and drinks. If you know anything about the Swedish Chef, you know this is going to be an experience in itself.
Why This Matters for Your Next Trip
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has long been one of Hollywood Studios’ must-do attractions, and the Muppets theme feels like a perfect fit — it brings a sense of humor and heart to a thrill ride that the whole family can get excited about (riders must meet the height requirement). If you’ve been on the fence about a Disney World trip this summer, the timing of this opening aligns beautifully with summer vacation planning.
