A Brand-New Norwegian Cruise Ship Is Now Sailing the Caribbean — Here's What Makes It Special

If you’ve been on the fence about booking a Caribbean cruise, the timing couldn’t be better — Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship just set sail from Miami this week, and the early reports are nothing short of spectacular.

Norwegian Luna, the second vessel in NCL’s premium Prima Plus class, officially launched its inaugural Caribbean season on April 4, 2026, sailing roundtrip from PortMiami. The ship was christened at PortMiami on March 31, 2026, following its debut in Rome just weeks earlier, according to NCL’s official announcement.

What Sets Norwegian Luna Apart

At 156,300 gross tons and 1,056 feet long, Norwegian Luna isn’t just big — it’s purpose-built for the kind of vacation that checks every box. The ship accommodates approximately 3,550 guests at double occupancy and carries NCL’s signature “freestyle cruising” philosophy into a whole new class of experience.

Dining That Goes Way Beyond the Buffet

One of the most talked-about features is the Indulge Food Hall, which brings 11 global cuisines under one roof. Add to that the new Sukhothai Thai restaurant, Pan-Asian dining concepts, and 17 total dining venues onboard, and you’ve got a ship where the food alone could justify the trip. With 18 bars and lounges rounding out the options, there’s no shortage of ways to wind down after a day in port.

Thrills on the High Seas

Norwegian Luna raises the bar for onboard adventure with the Aqua Slidecoaster, a ten-story dry slide, and the Luna Midway entertainment zone. The Moon Climber and Horizon Park add even more options for guests who want to stay active between port days. It’s the kind of lineup that keeps families — and frankly, adults who never outgrew waterslides — genuinely entertained at sea.

The Haven: NCL’s Ship-Within-a-Ship

For travelers who want a more elevated experience, The Haven enclave delivers butler-serviced suites with 24-hour concierge access in a private keycard-access environment. It’s one of the most sought-after products in cruising, and Norwegian Luna brings it to the Caribbean in style.

A Spa Worth Staying On Board For

The Mandara Spa on Norwegian Luna features a thermal suite with twice as many heated loungers as previous ships, plus a clay sauna, charcoal sauna, ice room, salt room, flotation salt pool, and thalassotherapy pool. Sea day? Suddenly that sounds like a gift.

Where Norwegian Luna Is Sailing

From Miami, Norwegian Luna operates 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries through November 2026. Eastern Caribbean sailings call on Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic), Tortola (British Virgin Islands), St. Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands), and NCL’s private island Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas — which itself just debuted major upgrades including a new pier, tram service, a swim-up bar lagoon, and the Great Tides Waterpark (opening summer 2026 with 19 waterslides).

Western Caribbean itineraries include Roatán (Honduras), Costa Maya and Cozumel (Mexico), and Harvest Caye (Belize).

Beginning in November 2026, Luna transitions to a Western Caribbean rotation featuring Roatán, Cozumel, and Harvest Caye.
